Olivier Bertrand has been active in the Fine Art world since 1989. From the very beginning of his career he specialised in Belgian Art of the 19th and 20th century. Ten years later, in 1999, his passion for the rich artistic heritage of his native country led him to the foundation of the Belgian Art Research institute, now called Belart International.
In almost three decades of dealing with art he has developed in-depth knowledge on the art scene in Europe. He has established close relationships with collectors, museums and auction houses. His work comprises:
Providing worldwide expertise on European paintings, drawings and sculptures
Consulting museums on exhibitions and acquisitions
Setting up collections of 19th and 20th century art for individual and corporate clients
Providing appraisal and advice for auction houses, private collectors
Publication of catalogues and reference books
Olivier Bertrand has shared his experience and know-how through numerous publications. His research on multi-talents like Rik Wouters has filled an important gap in the literature on Belgian Art History.
